The Legend of Zelda series has been around for over 30 years and Nintendo has managed to provide countless classics within the long running video game franchise. We got to see timeless classics across multiple generations of Nintendo consoles including Zelda: Link into the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Twilight Princess, Wind Waker along with Twilight Princess. Despite, the level of popularity and commercial success that the Legend of Zelda series had over the past three decades there were some entires that causals and hardcore fans of the series were not too fond of. While everyone has their own respective opinion on which Zelda the game was the worst; there are a handful of people who would go on record and say the Tri-Force Heroes could easily be within the top five in relation to that specific category. Zelda: Tri Force Heroes was released back in ’15 for the Nintendo 3DS and it was different from what hardcore fans are used to seeing in a standard Zelda title. Normally, when you play a Zelda title the storyline pretty much sets the tone for game itself. The storylines for specific Zelda titles would also be one main reasons why people purchased them to begin with. Tri Force Heroes was very different from the standard Zelda game especially considering the fact that one of its main features included online gameplay. The online gameplay for Tri Force Heroes was one of the key features about the game that people had heavily criticized mainly due to lagging issues. Also, many people really did not care about Zelda: Tri Force Heroes after a year or so because multiplayer gameplay in a Zelda felt very outta place. Even though, The Legend of Zelda: Four Sword Adventures from ’04 had multiplayer gameplay it was far more superior than Tri Force Heroes in both execution and gameplay. The difficulty curve was also a focal point of criticism for Tri Force Heroes along with the lackluster story that it had in comparison to other canon installments within the Zelda series. Despite, reaching over one million copies in sales for the Nintendo 3DS Tri Force Heroes was still considered to be a commercial failure in comparison to Nintendo’s greatest Zelda titles from the past three decades.
