Its been almost seven years since Batman Arkham VR was released for the PlayStation 4 back in October 2016. Despite, not being as popular previous installments within the Arkham series from ’09-’12 the Batman VR games from ’16 received fairly decent reviews since its release. There were many critics who were impressed by the graphics, sound and open world design that was presented in this virtual reality game. However, Batman Arkham VR was not among the best selling virtual reality games of the mid to late 10’s. In fact, virtual reality is something that casual gamers have yet to become accustomed to. The idea of a Batman: Arkham VR 2 seems unlikely especially considering the fact that Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment are focusing more on the upcoming Suicide Squad game in 2023. Also, it does not seem like too many people have a strong interest in seeing another Batman VR game since the ’16 installment was not a massive commercial success. Even though, Batman is the most popular DC superhero in relation to video games nobody wants to see him in another virtual reality game. If anything the gaming world would be more receptive to a potential sequel to Batman: Arkham Knight which came out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC back in 2015. But since the PlayStation VR 2 is expected to be released in retail stores worldwide sometime in future; its likely that Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment could possibly do something special in relation to virtual reality somewhere down the line.
