As many people are aware the Oculus Quest 2 has bee out since October 2020 and since then it has become one of the most popular VR headsets in retail since then. As it currently stands the Oculus Quest 2 is one of the hottest things that Facebook has going right now and rivals the likes of PSVR in terms of virtual reality related gameplay. The current price for the Oculus Quest 2 headset is approximately $300 and we still have the Oculus Quest 2 Pro on the way in 2022. But the question that many analysts have on their mind is whether or not the Oculus Quest 2 will reach at least 10 million units in sales before the end of 2021. As of right now there are not too many high profile virtual reality games for the Oculus Quest 2 right now; probably with the exception of Resident Evil 4: VR which is set to be released later in 2021. The PSVR on the other hand as plenty of high profile virtual reality titles including Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Ironman VR, Tetris Effect, Star Wars Squadron and more.
It should also be noted that Sony’s PSVR has managed to reach over five million units in sales worldwide since its initial release back in October 2016. Even though, virtual reality is becoming more popular in today’s generation of gaming it has yet to fully become mainstream. There is plenty of emphasis on streaming video games more so than ever before along with the acquisition of home consoles including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch being major attractions in electronic retailers. As of right now we are still waiting to learn more details about Sony’s PSVR which is most likely going to be released sometime next year. But as it currently stands its somewhat difficult to picture the Oculus Quest 2 reaching at least 10 million in sales by the first quarter of 2022 unless Resident Evil 4: VR is massive success.
