Scarlet Nexus is one of the few RPG titles that the gaming world is looking forward to seeing this upcoming Summer in June 2021. Scarlet Nexus will be appearing on the PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Steam and will be utilizing the Unreal Engine 4. This upcoming action role-playing game will be developed by Bandi Namco Studios and published by Bandi Namco Entertainment. This single-player RPG revolves around the abstract concept of society being made up by the human mind within of an alternate reality. The setting of the game apparently takes place in a parallel dimension during a time period in the near future which has not been mentioned. The main protagonists of the game are Yuito Sumeragi & Kasane Randall who are both members of a defense group known as the Other Suppression Force; who serve to protect the fictional country of New Himuka from foreign invaders. In Scarlet Nexus the primary foes are odd menacing looking creatures known as the Others. Both Yuito & Kasane both have their own respective stories and they both possess psychokinetic abilities that allow them to combat their enemies.
In addition, to utilizing psychokinetic abilities players can also utilize melee attacks to destroy their foes which was seen due gameplay. Apparently, players could have at least a party of three characters; including the ones they control when traveling. Similar to that of Final Fantasy XV from ’16 players will be provided with a skill tree to upgrade the ability of their characters. The skill tree in Scarlet Nexus is called the “Brain Map” which may look a bit more complex than what players are used to seeing in a generic skill tree. Similar to almost every other high-profile action role playing game Scarlet Nexus is played from a third-person perspective with the opportunity for players to expand their party. As players progress throughout the game they meet more allies who even assist them in combat in order to kill of the Others as they invade New Himuka. The visuals and gameplay for Scarlet Nexus is reminiscent of games like God Eater 3 & Code Vein from ’18-’19 which was many people find appealing about this particular title. It should also be noted that Scarlet Nexus will also have its own anime which is set to premiere in July 2021 on a date that has yet to be revealed. The anime series adaptation of Scarlet Nexus will be produced by Sunrise, Inc licensed by Funimation. There are many people who have high expectations of the anime and are curious to see how faithful it will be to the upcoming game. If the Scarlet Nexus anime adaption becomes very popular among viewers then hopefully it will eventually appear on Toonami sometime either in ’21-’22.
