There are many games that people are looking forward to seeing between now and early 2020 on game systems such as the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch. One of the few upcoming titles that NIS America has recently announced for a release on the Nintendo Switch is Langrisser I & II which are both set to appear in retail sometime in the first half of next year on a date that has yet to be revealed. For those who do not know the Langrisser series had began back in 1991 when the very first game was released on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis console. During the 90’s at least five installments within the Langrisser game was released between ’91-’98 with Langrisser III-V appearing on the Sega Saturn. As far as Tactical RPG’s are concerned the Langrisser series was popular in Japan during the 90’s.
However, RPG titles in general did not stand out on the Sega Genesis as much as they would on the Super NES. In fact, some would argue that the Langrisser series was overshadowed during the 90’s due to all of the Final Fantasy games that we saw within that decade such as FFIV-FFVII. Also, there were games such as the Phantasy Star and the Shining series that arguably stood out more on the Sega Genesis back then especially since most of those titles had western releases. Langrisser I & II will become the first games within the series to be released in America and will definitely be a title worth checking out especially if you are retro gamer who loved RPG from the 16-bit era of gaming.
