As far as surprising announcement are concerned the announcement of a new Shantae game for multiple game consoles is something that caught many people by surprise. For those who have not heard it has recently be revealed that WayForward Technologies will be adding a fifth installment to the Shantae set which is currently in development and is set to be released later this year on a date that has yet to be announced. As it currently stands we do not know about what plot for Shantae 5 is going to be about along with what gameplay improvements will be made in comparison to Shantae: Half-Hero Genie from 2016. We do know that Shantae 5 will be appearing on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and even Apple Arcade.
Sometimes its hard to believe that the Shantae series has been around over fifteen years and has managed to evolve into being one of the most noticeable names in relation to the 2D platformers genre of gaming today. It will be interesting to see whether or not Shantae 5 ends up becoming a more solid title than its predecessor from 2016. Also, there are older Shantae titles from the part of this decade such as Risky’s Revenge (2010) and Pirates Curse (2014) that fans of the series would love to see ported ported for the Nintendo Switch if WayForward Technologies is open to the idea.
