As far as fighting games of this past year are concerned one of the big titles that we got to see for the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch was one with an all-female roster entitled SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy. While SNK Heroine was somewhat of an attraction on the the Nintendo Switch and the PS4 in America the game never received an arcade release in the US like it did in Japan. While some argue that SNK Heroines could of been an attraction in American arcade centers the true is that the arcade era in relation to fighting games is dead and has been since the late 90’s-early 00’s.
Also, the rise in popularity of shooters, action-adventure and Action-RPG’s throughout the 00’s and the 10’s decade has been somewhat correlated with decline of 2D head to head fighting games. The likelihood of SNK Heroines receiving an arcade release in America seems very slim especially seeing how games such as Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite and Dragonball FighterZ never received an arcade release at all.
