As many people know Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite was a crossover fighting game that was released back in September 2017 for the PlayStation 4 along with the Xbox One. As popular as Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite was prior to its release the game not only didn’t sell well but it also received a price drop shortly after its release in retail from $59.99 to the likes of $39.99. Some believe that if Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite received an arcade release similar to the likes of MvC: 1 & 2 it could have been more successful than it was. But then again Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two World never received an arcade release and is considered to one of the best crossover fighting titles of the 10’s decade.
Besides the arcade era of gaming has been dead for the most part since the early 00’s. The rise in popularity in relation to online gaming has basically lead to the decline in popularity of arcade fighting games and ironically the last one within the MvC series that we have seen was released back in the year 2000. While its possible that Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite could be an attraction at places such as Dave & Busters or even Chuckie Cheese’s the true is the MvC series has arguably reached its peak in popularity and would probably not be as much of an attraction as a arcade game that many people would think.
