As many people know the PlayStation 4 is one of the most successful video game consoles of the 10’s decade. Since its release the PlayStation 4 has managed to reach over 80 million units in sales since November 2013 and there are many people who are speculating that it could eventually surpass 100 million within the next two years or so. However, its been announced a few days ago that we will learn more about Sony’s next generation console the PlayStation 5 in 2019. With the upcoming release of the PlayStation 5 which can occur anytime between 2019-2021 some are questioning whether or not the PlayStation 4 will still be available in retail during the start of the 20’s decade.
After all, after the PlayStation 3 was released back in November 2006 and remained in retail until 2017 before it got discontinued by Sony. While the PlayStation 5 is expected to all in retail within the next two years the PS4 is only five years old and is still very popular along with the Nintendo Switch. As far as the PS4 remaining in retail until 2023 is concerned that is something that many people including executives from Sony may not be able to answer right now. But there is definitely no plans on discontinuing the production and shipment of PS4 consoles in countries like the United States, United Kingdom or Japan anytime soon.
