As far as gaming anniversaries are concerned today is a special day. For those who are fans of the Doom series or first-person shooters in general you will be amazed to know that today marks the 25th Anniversary of the series which started back in 1993. The first ever Doom game was developed by id Software and was initially released for MS-DOS before being ported to multiple gaming platforms such as the SNES, PS1, Sega Saturn, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and more. As far as first person shooter games are concerned the first ever Doom game was definitely ahead of its time and was big before the genre became very popular from the 2000’s onwards.
Since the release of the original Doom game we have seen a series of games that followed such as Doom II: Hell on Earth, Final Doom, Doom 64, Doom III: Resurrection of Evil and mist recently the Reboot which came out back in 2016. As it currently stands we are waiting for waiting for a new Doom game and movie which are both expected to appear in 2019. Sometimes its hard to believe that the Doom series has been around for over two decades especially if you are a retro gamer who grew up during 90’s. As far as first person shooter games in general are concerned there is no doubt that the very first Doom game is legendary.
