As many people know King of Fighters XIV was initially released by SNK for the PlayStation 4 in 2016. Since its release two years ago King of Fighters XIV was eventually released for Microsoft Windows the following year along with being available in arcade centers as well. The only thing about the arcade release of King of Fighters XIV was the fact that it remained exclusively in Japan from 2017 onwards. There are some who believe that KOF XIV could have possibly been more popular in America if there where cabinets of the game available centers in 2017. However, seeing how the fighting genre of gaming has sharply declined since the late 90’s- early 00’s the idea of having an arcade release of KOF XIV in America would have been pointless.
Besides many of people would argue that the KOF series was at its peak in popularity between ’98-’99 and since then has been overshadowed by various fighting games such as Soul Calibur, Street Fighter, Tekken and the Mortal Kombat series. Besides online multiplayer video games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Fortnite are main attractions within the gaming world nowadays. The King of Fighters series is not as much of an attraction as it once was so having an arcade version of KOF XIV in America was not really necessary.
