Back in the early 90’s there were so many cool games on the Sega Genesis including the Sonic the Hedgehog trilogy which is still cherished by retro gamers to this day. But when it came to third party titles that appeared on the Sega Genesis one of the few titles that instantly comes to mind is Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker game which was released in 1990. For those who do not know the Moonwalker video game was a beat em up/platform title based on the movie which was released back in 1988. While the Sega Genesis version of Moonwalker was obviously inferior compared to the arcade version of the game there are some who question why it was never ported for Sega CD back in the early 90’s.

In terms of visual quality the Sega CD was obviously more superior than the Sega Genesis which has been proven with the release of titles such as Sonic CD back in ’93. One hand Moonwalker could have looked better in terms of quality on the Sega CD. One the other hand the Sega CD was not quite as popular as the Sega Genesis or the SNES during the early 90’s. While Moonwalker could have worked on Sega CD in theory that version of game could have overshadowed especially considering how fierce the competition was becoming in relation to console wars between Nintendo, Sega and later joined by Sony in ’94.
