As many people it has recently been made public that for whatever reason Sega had cancelled a remake of the first two Shenmue games back in 2017. As of right now there are still fans of the Shenmue series along with many people within the gaming world who are questioning why Sega has decided to go along with this decision. Some are speculating that Sega did not have enough time to reach its deadline and as a result we are going to see HD remasters of Shenmue I & II instead. Some also believe that remastered versions of the first two Shenmue games could have ended being overshadowed by Shenmue III which is set to appear on the PlayStation 4 in 2019.

Either way, in-depth remakes would have took a very long time for Sega to complete which is shame especially since there is actual footage and screenshots of the actual game itself. Either way it looks like 2019 is going to be a big year for the Shenmue series and for those who have been long time fans of the series since the late 90’s the best is still yet to come.
