As many people know the Contra series became popular when the very first game had appeared on the NES back in 1987. Ever since then the run and gun series has managed to become very popular in the 8 bit NES between the late 80’s and the early 90’s for the SNES. However, there are many people who question why Konami never released an official game for the Nintendo 64 during the mid 90’s. Initially, Konami had plans to release a title known as Contra Spirts 64 on the Nintendo 64 which was supposed to be a side scrolling 3D game which eventually got cancelled during the mid 90’s.

Contra Spirits 64 was set to appear on the Nintendo 64 during the first quarter of 1997 and was expected to be a side scrolling 3D shooter game. While there was never any official screenshots or even footage of the game to have been released it would have been very interesting to see what Contra Spirits 64 would have looked like during the mid 90’s. Even though, Contra Spirits 64 was cancelled we still got to see games such as Contra: Legacy War and C The Contra Adventure between 1996-1998 which were not quite as popular as the title that appeared on the NES or the SNES.
