When it comes down to top female characters within the gaming world its almost impossible to not mention Samus Aran & Lara Croft. In fact, both characters would be in the top five of many people’s list in relation in relation to being the most influential female video game characters of all-time. The Metroid series has been around since the 80’s its impact within gaming world has been felt since then especially with the development of the metroidvania genre of gaming.

There have been games such as Super Metroid from the 90’s along with Metroid Prime which came out in the early 00’s which were two of the best non-Mario video games that Nintendo had ever produced. In fact Metroid Prime was one of the best selling video games for the Nintendo Game and as of right now the world is looking forward to seeing Metroid Prime 4 in the future. Samus Aran drew millions of dollars Nintendo over the past couple of decades and is just as valuable to the company as other characters such as Link, Donkey Kong and maybe Mario to some extent.

Outside of Nintendo in relation to any type of action adventure like game Lara Croft is arguably the most popular female video game character ever created. While Lara Croft might arguably be a bigger draw Samus Aran paved the way for female protagonists within the gaming world in general by becoming the first to achieve mainstream success. In terms of which character is more popular is highly debatable especially since fans of both series have their own respective opinions on this matter.
