As many people know both Link and Donkey Kong are among two of the most iconic characters that Nintendo has ever produced. Both Link and Donkey Kong have been around since the 80’s and are considered to be two of Nintendo’s biggest attractions next to Mario. But in terms of which character is the more popular between the two is something that is definitely debatable. While the Legend of Zelda series had many outstanding games such as Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess and much recently Breath of the Wild the same thing can be said for Donkey Kong.

There were games such as the Donkey Kong Country series on the SNES along with Donkey 64 and more recently Donkey Kong: Tropical Breeze for the Wii-U which were popular and had reasonably high replay values. But in terms of which video game series seems to attract more mainstream attention some would probably be more inclined to choose the Legend of Zelda series over Donkey Kong especially over the past two decades. During the mid to late 00’s The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was seen as one of the best action adventure titles of that decade. Also, The Breath of the Wild was gaining mainstream attention before and following its big release on the Nintendo Switch in 2017. But just because the Zelda seems more popular does not necessarily make Link a better character than Donkey Kong. At the end of the day everyone has different opinions on the matter and it really depends on what series you are more a fan of altogether.
