As of right now Sony appears to be dominating its competition in the console wars and has been like this seeming for over the past decade. The PlayStation 4 has managed to sell over 79 million units worldwide since its release back in late 2013 while the PlayStation 2 was the best selling game console of the 00’s by reaching over 155 million total. It seems like for a brief period of time in the 00’s Nintendo had the edge over Sony and Microsoft due to the success of the Nintendo Wii which sold over 101 million units worldwide yet surpassing the PlayStation 3 along with the Xbox 360 in sales.

While the Nintendo Wii-U was a flop the Nintendo Switch has already sold at least 17 million units worldwide in less than two years. In terms of whether or not the Nintendo Switch will surpass the PlayStation 3 & 4 in terms of overall sales is still debatable. But it seems like the Nintendo Switch will definitely surpass the Xbox One within two or three years. While its possible that the Nintendo Switch can surpass the PlayStation 4 in sales Sony looks like it will maintain its lead in the console wars.
