As many people know both the Nintendo Wii and the PlayStation 3 were two of the most poorly game consoles of the 00’s. In terms of sales both game consoles did great and sold more than the likes of the Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64 and the PS1. However, when we look at the numbers the Wii had definitely sold more than PlayStation 3 ever since both game consoles were released back in late 2006. Some might at that the Nintendo Wii was more successful than the PlayStation 3 because it was more innovative it included a remote and nunchuck.

Also, the Nintendo Wii was much cheaper than the PS3 since it was priced at $249.00 following its initial release. The PlayStation 3 had prices that ranged from $499 to $599 depending on how much gigabytes the console had. Since its release the PS3 has reportedly sold at least 80 million units worldwide. The Nintendo Wii had reportedly sold over 101 million units worldwide since its release which made it seem like Nintendo had took the lead over Sony during the consoles wars during the time. While the PS3 arguably had more superior graphics and gameplay than the Wii it definitely fell below Sony’s financial expectations since it did not sell as much as the PlayStation 2.
