When it comes down to side scrolling shooter titles Gley Lancer was one of the top titles to have never been released outside of Japan back in the early 90’s. Gley Lancer was originally released for the Sega Genesis before it was eventually made for the Wii’s Virtual Console back in 2008. But since Gley Lancer first started on the Sega Genesis there are some who would question why video game developer Masaya never ported the game for the Dreamcast back in the late 90’s.

Even though, the Sega Dreamcast mainly featured 3D titles there were a few 2D games such Marvel vs Capcom 1 & 2 that stood out during the late 90’s time period. However, the fighting genre of gaming was still popular during the late 90’s while side scrolling shooters had already declined in popularity during that time period.
