Sometimes it’s hard to believe that SNK has been around since 1978. It seems like SNK are doing special things within the year of their 40th anniversary such as as re-releasing the Neo Geo Mini which will include up to 40 classic games from the 90’s. Since SNK has reached their 40th anniversary some are wondering whether or not they plan on releasing another Neo Geo game console in the future.

If SNK decides to release another game system it would definitely make the modern day console wars with Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo more interesting. The last major console that SNK had produced was the Neo Geo CD which was initially released back in 1994. In terms of sales it did not do quite as well as its competitors such as the SNES and the Sega Genesis. However, if SNK manages to create a game console that has its own online service where people can download apps along with having more third party titles that many people are familiar with it could definitely sell millions worldwide. The idea of having modern day titles such as King of Fighters XIV on a Neo Geo console sounds pretty cool in theory. However, if SNK releases another Neo Geo game console they would have too very careful with pricing and not make it as expensive as the Neo Geo AES.
