The fact that Mother 3 was released exclusively in Japan for the Game Boy Advance and not GameCube is something that many people question to this very day. Many people around the world has waited to see a 3D Mother game between 1999-2000 but never got it. Some would think that the third installment of the Earthbound series would have stood out more on the Nintendo GameCube opposed to the Game Boy Advance back in the mid 00’s.

Even though, Mother 3 was purely a 2D game having it on the Nintendo GameCube could have brought back some nostalgia that fans of the series had from the 90’s. After all, the visuals for Mother 3 looked similar to the Earthbound game for the SNES which added its appeal. However, despite how impressive Mother 3 looked on the Game Boy Advance the series had declined in popularity by the mid 00’s. In theory having Mother 3 on the Nintendo GameCube sounded a cool idea. But there is no telling how well Mother 3 would have done in sales on GameCube in practice.
