There is no doubt that 2017 was a pretty good year in the gaming world. We got to see so many cool action adventure titles throughout the course of 2017. However, when many people look back at 2017 and think about the action adventure genre of gaming there a few titles that instantly comes to mind. One of the many action adventure titles that stood out the most in 2017 was the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild which was released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.

Before the Nintendo Switch was even released The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was one of the most anticipated games of 2017. Since its release on the Switch console the game has managed sell well over six million units worldwide since its release back in March 2017. As an action adventure game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has received numerous accolades from various gaming publications and is arguably one of the best titles in the entire Zelda series.

When we look at Horizon Zero Dawn which was released exclusively for the PS4 it was also another game that critics where throughly impressed by. Horizon Zero Dawn was also another highly anticipated action adventure game that was released in 2017. The development of Horizon Zero Dawn started all the way back in 2011 and the very first E3 trailer of the game itself appeared back in 2015.

After watching the trailers for Horizon Zero Dawn between 2015 and 2016 the graphics looked outstanding on the Decima game engine. Ever since Horizon Zero Dawn was released in Spring 2017 the game had managed to sell over 4 million units worldwide on the PlayStation 4. Also, Guerrilla Games has been praised by critics for the visuals along with storytelling aspect of Horizon Zero Dawn. In terms of which game is more popular some people might be inclined to give the edge to Zelda: Breath of the Wild since it managed to sell more the Horizon Zero Dawn. But then others can argue that the visuals for Horizon Zero Dawn is more superior than Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
