When we look back at some of the best selling games of the 00’s we look at many titles such as Super Mario Sunshine which was releasedfor the Nintendo GameCube back in 2002. Since it’s release Super Mario Sunshine has sold over 5 million copies worldwide and was definitely one of those platform titles that many people wanted to see a direct sequel for. After all, the Nintendo Wii was not released until the Fall of 2006.

The Nintendo GameCube was still very popular even after the Nintendo Wii was released going into 2007. Since the Nintendo Wii was backwards compatible with GameCube games a Super Mario Sunshine 2 could have definitely worked on that console. But in terms of whether or not a Super Mario Sunshine 2 game would have been as successful as the original title in terms of sales is questionable.
