As far as the fighting genre is concerned both Mortal Kombat 9 and 10 are two of the most popular games that we seen during the first half of the 10’s decade. One of the many things that comes to mind when we look at both games deals with which one was better overall. There are some would give Mortal Kombat 9 the advantage since it arguably has a better roster of characters along with the inclusion tag team matches which was not apart of Mortal Kombat 10.
While the in game mechanics in Mortal Kombat 10 was better than 9 along with the fact that we got to see new characters such as Cassie Cage, Jacqueline Briggs, Kung Jin they were all characters that many people were unfamiliar with that replaced some of their favorites from some of the older MK titles. If one is a retro gamer they would probably be more inclined to choose Mortal Kombat 9 over MK 10 since the story of the game revisits the events of the first three games in the series. In fact the cutscenes from the story mode in MK 9 was arguably better than the two movies that came out back in the 90’s. While Mortal Kombat 10 was a great game the story mode in MK 9 alone was something that many people have wanted to see for a very long time.
In some ways Mortal Kombat 9 helped revitalize the series in general while MK 10 was a game that people were excited about because they wanted to see whether or not it would exceed their expectations. However, one of the more interesting things about the story mode in MK 10 includes the fact that Liu Kang was a villain along with a cliffhanger ending that points to Raiden possibly becoming one himself in the sequel. In terms of which game is better between Mortal Kombat 9 & 10 is tough since they are both awesome games.
