The Wonder Boy series was popular back in the late 80’s and early 90’s as a platform for them Master System and the Sega Genesis.  Whether or not the series was a huge success really depends on who you ask.  Even we got to see Wonder Boy III: Monster’s Lair and Dragon Trap for the TurboGrafx it would have been interesting to see how well the series would have played out on the SNES.  

The SNES arguably had better platform titles than the Genesis probably with the exception of the Sonic the Hedgehog series.  The Wonder Boy series could have definitely have worked on the SNES; but at the same time could have easily been overshadowed by countless games.  If Wonder Boy on the SNES platform games such as Super Mario World, Mega Man X and others would definitely get more attention than the Wonder Boy series.
