During the late 80’s and early 90’s Michael Jackson was still incredibly popular and Moonwalker was one of the many games that people in America were dying to buy for the Sega Genesis along with the Master System. When Moonwalker was first released in arcade centers back in 1989 people were very impressed with the quality of the game. However want to game came to the Sega Genesis and the Master System seemed significantly different from the arcade version of the game. There is only so many things that the developers could do replicate the arcade version of Moonwalker due the limitations that the 16 bit game console imposed on them. However, things probably would not have been any different if Moonwalker was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System as well. When it came down to video game music some people might prefer the SNES sound chip over the Sega Genesis.
Also, in terms of gameplay some might argue that SNES games had more colorful sprites and graphics while the Sega Genesis titles actually had better gameplay. It was pretty cool that we got see Moonwalker ported for other game systems such as Amiga, Atari ST and Commodore 64 but seeing the game ported for the SNES would definitely have been something interesting.
