It seems like there many people who are openly unhappy regarding one of Nintendo’s most recent announcement in relation to Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. Its been revealed that Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen two classics from the GBA era during the 00’s will have digital-only releases on Nintendo Switch 2. While many people are excited about the re-releases of FireRed & LeafGreen they are pissed about each game being $20 each. Not only are people complaining about the price of FireRed & LeafGreen on the Switch 2 but they also are upset about both games not being featured on Nintendo Switch Online. In the eyes of many people Nintendo re-releasing FireRed & LeafGreen on the Switch 2 seems like a nothing more than money grab. Both Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen originally came out in 2004 meaning that both games are more than two decades old. Even though, both Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are better installments than Pokemon Legends Z-A people feel that the $20 price tag is unjustified. It seems like Nintendo has been doing a lot of things within the past couple of years that has caused them to alienate their fan base.

Some believe that making FireRed & LeafGreen could end up backfiring on Nintendo considering that the current generation of gamers are not familiar with those classics. If anything an updated version of FireRed & LeafGreen is something that would appeal to a niche audience of gamers who were children or teenagers back in the 2000’s. The Switch 2 digital ports of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen will appear on the Nintendo eShop on February 27th. Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen will include more than 150 Pokemon and will feature local co-op gameplay on top of all of the features the features the original games had. If Nintendo is re-releasing older Pokemon games from Generation III in 2026; it would not be surprising if they eventually do the same thing with games like Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Diamond along Black & White for the Switch 2.
