Its hard to believe that Super Smash Bros. Melee was released on the Nintendo GameCube 25 years ago. Super Smash Bros. Melee was the highly anticipated sequel to the original Super Smash Bros game which appeared on the Nintendo 64 back in 1999. Super Smash Bros. Melee was one of the few good things in general to come out of 2001 which was arguably one of the darkest years in American history. Super Smash Bros. Melee had improved graphics from its N64 predecessor and a star-studded roster of characters owned by Nintendo. The gameplay in Super Smash Bros. Melee was fast-paced and chaotic and was an addictive multiplayer title. Super Smash Bros. Melee was arguably one of the most entertaining GameCube titles from the early 2000’s due to its variety in terms of game modes.

Super Smash Bros. Melee had various single player modes like Classic, Adventure, Event Match, All-Star Mode, and training. There were also some fun multiplayer modes like Melee, Tournament along with cool Stadium mini-games like Target Test, Home Run Contest and Multi-Man Melee. Super Smash Bros. Melee featured around 26 characters and fun game modes that contributed to the overall replay value of the game itself. Since its release on GameCube 25 years ago Super Smash Bros. Melee has managed to sell more than seven million copies worldwide. In fact, Super Smash Bros. Melee ended up being the best selling title of all-time on Nintendo’s GameCube. Super Smash Bros. Melee is one of the few Nintendo games from the GameCube era that has managed to gain a massive cult following over the past two decades.

Super Smash Bros. Melee is arguably more popular than other installments within its franchise like Super Smash Bros. Brawl since its has appeared numerous times in EVO Tournaments. Also, the soundtrack in Smash Bros Melee. was arguably one of the best in the series with the “Temple Theme” being one of the most iconic tracks in the game. Smash Bros Melee. is a game that became so popular to a point where it significantly overshadowed its prequel. Super Smash Bros. Melee was the game that made the series more mainstream in relation to appealing to casual gamers. Even though, each entry within the Smash Bros series has improved in terms of quality the Melee game launched the series into stardom which is why it stands out. Super Smash Bros. Melee is a game that people still play today mainly because its more enjoyable than the average AAA game you would see in this day and age.
