Its hard to believe that ten years has passed since Fallout 4 was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Fallout 4 was the sequel to Bethesda’s critically-acclaimed and iconic Fallout: New Vegas game from 2010. Fallout 4 came out back in 2015 a year that was considered to be one of the best during the 2010’s when it came down to high profile video game releases. Fallout 4 was not only one of the best games of 2015 but it was arguably one of the greatest first-person shooter titles of the 2010’s decade. The setting for Fallout 4 took place in a post-apocalyptic Commonwealth Massachusetts during the later part of the 23rd century. The post-apocalyptic world in Fallout 4 was a result of a Great War with the game beginning about a decade following the events of Fallout 3. There are many who believe that Fallout 4 was more superior than Fallout: New Vegas in terms of gameplay, animation and level design. One of the biggest criticisms of Fallout 4 was that the story lacked the same type of depth that New Vegas had.

The decisions players made in New Vegas impacted the game’s story more so than Fallout 4 which many people were frustrated by. It should also be noted that Fallout 4 only had four endings opposed to Fallout 3 from ’08 which had seemingly countless endings. The base version of New Vegas had more than 260 quests while Fallout 4 had around 190. Even though, New Vegas had more variety when it came down to shaping a character personally and decision-making Fallout 4 had better customization options. The perk progression system was also one of the many highlights of Fallout 4 allowing players to boost of various stats including Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility and Luck. There were tons of weapons that players had access to in Fallout 4 including shotguns, rifles, pipebombs along with several melee weapons which helpful in killing enemies like raiders, ghouls and super-mutants. Fallout 4 was game that regressed in some areas that made New Vegas a classic RPG but managed to improve in others which added to its appeal.

If the choice system, dialogue was on the same level as the of New Vegas then Fallout 4 would have undoubtedly of been a better game overall. The user interface in relation to the inventory was something that could have been better. Also, the Skill System in Fallout 4 did not feel quite as detailed in comparison to predecessors. Despite, what the criticisms Fallout 4 received over the years it still managed to outsell both Fallout 3 along with Fallout: New Vegas. Fallout 4 has managed to sell at least 25 million copies within the past decade and the world is currently waiting for Bethesda to release Fallout 5. As of right now Bethesda is planning to release Fallout 4: The Anniversary Edition in November 2025. While the anticipation for the Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition is high many fans of the original game are not too thrilled about it. The Anniversary Edition of Fallout 4 is supposed include all six DLC packs along with the base game. The problem is that the Anniversary Edition of Fallout 4 could potentially disrupt the various mods that players have made to the original game over the years. Despite, how people feel about the Anniversary Edition of Fallout 4 they cannot deny the fact that the original version of the game was one of the best first-person shooters action role-playing games that we have seen within the past two decades.
