Its hard to believe that Dragon Ball Xenoverse came out a decade during the PS4 era of gaming. Dragon Ball Xenoverse was one of the better DBZ games that we got back in the 2010’s decade alongside its sequel Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and Dragon Ball FighterZ. The original Xenoverse game was developed by Dimps and published by Bandi Namco Games and is one that stood out previous DBZ titles due to its creative plot and alluring graphics. Dragon Ball Xenoverse was also one of the first DBX games that allowed players to create their own custom character. The story for Xenoverse featured two new antagonists Towa and Mira who utilized dark magic along with fruit from the Tree of Might to change historical events in the DBZ timeline while trying to gain energy. Towa and Mira’s main goal involved breaking the seal on the Demon Realm and their both serve as associates to the main villain Demon God Demigra. The player created character basically serves as a time patroller along with Future Trunks and Shenron to correct history in various sagas including Saiyan, Android and Buu saga. The story for Dragon Ball Xenoverse felt refreshing compared to older DBZ titles which tells the same stories about the same sagas but with improved gameplay and visuals. Dragon Ball Xenoverse was initially one of the most immersive installments within the DBZ franchise.

Since its release Dragon Ball Xenoverse sold at least 5.4 million copies worldwide while its 2017 sequel reached around 10 million. Aside from a fun story, great dialogue and numerous side quests the soundtrack for Xenoverse was far better than it had any business being. Aside from the main story the original Xenoverse game had more than 45 base characters along with various other PvP and Online game modes. Also, players being able to choose their race when creating their own custom characters was one of the best things about the story mode. Despite, being mostly a fighting game Dragon Ball Xenoverse had RPG-like elements to it which felt somewhat reminiscent of older DBZ titles like Legacy of Goku II from the 2000’s. As cool as Dragon Ball Xenoverse was ten years ago it arguable got overshadowed by a variety of titles from 2015. In 2015, we got to see many big video game releases like Fallout 4, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Batman: Arkham Knight, Metal Gear Solid V and BloodBorne. Dragon Ball Xenoverse was one of the few DBZ games from the 2010’s where Bandi Namco hit a home run and its one people still talk fondly about to this day.
