The Devil May Cry series is one of Capcom’s most popular IP’s ever. The DMC series began back in ’01 and since then has been one of Capcom’s successful franchises of all-time. The latest installment of of Devil May Cry was released back in 2019 and it ended up selling around 8.1 million copies worldwide in sales on multiple game systems. Devil May Cry V was praised by many critics for its soundtrack, visuals, combat and characters like Dante, Nero, Trish and Vergil. Despite, the storyline for Devil May Cry V not being nearly as good as the ones from DMC3 & DMC4 the gameplay compensated for it. The Devil May Cry series is something that has appealed to casual gamers for over the past 20 years. DMC is almost as popular as Capcom’s Monster Hunter and Resident Evil series and the franchise has made more than $1 billion for the company since its inception. If anything Devil May Cry is among the top five franchises that Capcom has and they are obviously going to try and make as much as they can through the DMC name. It took over a decade for Capcom to release Devil May Cry V after DMC 4 was released back in 2008. Also, Capcom has not made any announcements about a potential Devil May Cry 6 within the past couple of years. While a Devil May Cry 6 is something that’s inevitable its unlikely to happen anytime soon since it does not seem to be a top priority of Capcom at the moment. Creating the perfect storyline to follow DMC V is going to take a longtime and should definitely be an improvement over what we got in 2019.
