Spider-Man is quite possibly one of the most popular superhero names ever in relation to television, movies, video games and comics. The Spider-Man games for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 came out in 2018 and 2023. Since their respective releases both Spider-Man games have been seen as two of the greatest 3D action adventure titles of all-time. While the past few years have been seen as peak periods for the legendary web-crawler in terms of video games Spider-Man also had some underrated games the 90’s and the 2000’s. One of the few Spider-Man games that does not get the type of credit that it deserves is the game from 2005. Ultimate Spider-Man from ’05 was a game that was better than it had any business being at the time. The Ultimate Spider-Man game from the mid-2000’s was published by Activision and released for the PlayStation 2, GameCube and Xbox. The Ultimate Spider-Man 2005 game had a unique look to it because of its cel-shaded graphics and its anime like look.

The game allowed players to control either Spider-Man or Venom while dealing with top villains within the Marvel series including Electro, Green Goblin, Carnage and R.H.I.N.O in the fictional open world environments of Manhattan and Queens. While Activision is not too big on remastering some of their older games from the 2000’s Spider-Man could possibly be an exception considering how much name value he has. While seeing a remastered version of Ultimate Spider-Man from 2005 sounds cool its unlikely to be on Activision’s priority list. Activision has a several IP’s that are highly profitable including Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, World of WarCraft and Crash Bandicoot they are focusing on. Also, Sony has been primarily handling Marvel related games on the PS4/PS5 for the past few years especially Spider-Man.
