Final Fight is considered to be one of the most legendary beat em up video games of all-time. Final Fight was a Capcom creation which was released in arcade centers back in 1989. The parent series of Final Fight was Street Fighter a game that came out in ’87 before the series became very popular during the early 90’s. Final Fight had three playable protagonists including Cody, Guy and Mike Haggar. Guy was a ninja while Cody was a brawler with Mike Haggar being a ex-pro wrestler turned mayor. Mike Haggar was the mayor of a crime ridden town known as Metro City where his daughter was kidnapped by the Mad Gear Gang. Even though, Final Fight had only six stages and had repetitive gameplay it was more difficult than it looked. Final Fight saw the debut of boss characters who would eventually go on to become more popular in the Street Fighter series like Sodom and Rolento. The graphics for the arcade version of Final Fight looked amazing and looked almost as good on Sega CD. While Final Fight was also ported to the Super NES during the early 90’s it did not hold a candle to the original version of the game.

Despite, the SNES port being inferior to the arcade version it still managed to sell around 1.5 million copies worldwide during the early 90’s. Final Fight was a game that inspired the creation of some of the most iconic beat em up video games from the 90’s including TMNT: Turtles In Time along with Streets of Rage II from ’91-’92. The sequels for Final Fight which were SNES exclusives came out between ’93-’95 and neither one of them had the same level of success as the original game. Capcom’s Final Fight game is still a classic 35 years later and will always be known as one of the greatest em up games of all-time.
