When you think about SNES classics from the 90’s that screams nostalgia one of the few games that instantly comes to mind is X-Men Mutant Apocalypse from 1994. X-Men Mutant Apocalypse was developed and published by Capcom and was arguably one of the best Marvel related video games to have appeared on the SNES console during the mid 90’s. X-Men Mutant Apocalypse was a single-player action game that featured five playable characters including Wolverine, Cyclops, Beast, Gambit and Psylocke. Each character had their own unique set of special abilities as they navigated through each level of the game.

This game saw Apocalypse as the main antagonist who is aided by Queen Brood and Tusk as the X-Men attempted to free other mutants from being held captive in Genosha. Despite, its basic plot and seemingly repetitive gameplay X-Men Mutant Apocalypse was still very challenging especially considering the fact that it had sixteen levels. Each character had their own set of stages they had to complete and over the years many people have complained about how difficult certain levels were. The graphics for X-Men Mutant Apocalypse pretty solid by mid 90’s standards and the soundtrack added to the overall quality of the game itself. When it comes down to producing Marvel games during the 90’s Capcom was unmatched and the Mutant Apocalypse title for the SNES was one of the few underrated gems to have come from that decade.
