Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was one of the most popular television shows for children back in the 90’s to a point where it has developed a cult following over the past few decades. While the television series was big we also got a few video games based on the Power Ranger television show during the mid 90’s. The Power Rangers game for the SNES came out in ’94 and was pretty much an action-platform fighting title which allowed players to control the original five characters. By ’94 standards the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers game for the SNES was fun but it felt repetitive after a while. The SNES game consisted of fighting Putty Patrollers in each stage while defeating a monster at the end of each level. The major downside to the SNES Power Rangers game was that it only allowed single player gameplay and there was no Green Ranger.

The absence of the Green Ranger was a big deal especially since Tommy Oliver was arguably the most popular characters on the show. No Green Ranger meant no Dragonzord which was also a let down for people who purchased the Power Rangers game for the SNES. Those who bought the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers fighting game for Sega Genesis were able to play as the Green Ranger and the Dragonzord which was pretty cool. However, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers game for the SNES felt basic and bland compared to the Power Rangers Movie video game from 1995. Both the SNES and Genesis versions of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie were better than ’94 title for Super Nintendo and had multiplayer gameplay. Three decades later the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers video game for the SNES is one that is fun for casuals and fans but eventually looses its charm after a short period of time.
