The Pokemon series was huge in terms of popularity back in the 2000’s and there were various titles for Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS that sold millions worldwide. One of the most memorable Pokemon titles from the 00’s that received universal acclaim during the GBA era was Pokemon Emerald which was released in 2004. Its hard to believe that Pokemon Emerald came out 20 years ago and was within the third generation of games within the franchise that came out during Generation III. There is no question that Generation III was one of the most iconic eras of the Pokemon franchise and was step forward from Generation II that allowed turn based tag-team action. Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald were all considered to be revolutionary during the mid 00’s because the developers known as Game Freak took everything to the next level. Pokemon Emerald managed to reach at least 7 million copies worldwide while Ruby and Sapphire managed to sell more than 16 million on the Game Boy Advance. Pokemon Emerald was not quite as popular as Red, Blue and Yellow from the 90’s but its a game that should have received a 3D remake a long time ago. A 2D-HD or a 3D Remake of Pokemon Sapphire to celebrate its 20th anniversary would turn heads within the gaming community, A remake of Pokemon Sapphire could also bring back lapsed fans who lost interest in the franchise within the past decade. While we did get Pokemon Alpha Sapphire for Nintendo 3DS back in 2014 the game was never ported to the Nintendo Switch from 2017 onwards. Seeing Pokemon Alpha Sapphire on Nintendo Switch 2 would be pretty cool but it seems unlikely at the moment.
