According to the ESA the world famous E3 gaming event that has been around since the mid 90’s is now official dead forever going forward. It seems like many gaming companies and even gamers have lost interest in the world famous e# events within the past couple of years especially following the COVID-19 pandemic which started in 2020. The pandemic is one of the major events that had a devastating effect on E3 events especially since they had to cancel two different events because of it. While E3 2021 was virtual this year’s event was cancelled because major corporations including Nintendo, Xbox and Sony declined to appear at E3 2023. The landscape of gaming has changed drastically and nowadays companies like Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft host their own live streams and showcase events opposed to appearing to appearing at gaming conferences. E3 events had arguably reached it peak during the 2000’s decade and has seemingly been declining throughout the 2010’s especially due to the evolution of digital technology along with streaming platforms becoming more popular. At this point E3 is pretty much obsolete and many people are surprised that it lasted throughout the 2010’s. In relation to video game releases 2023 has been one of the best years that gaming community has seen in years. However, despite all the good things that happened within the gaming community in 2023 the death of E3 might be one of the biggest negatives as it marks the end of an era.
