Everyone knows that Paper Mario: Color Splash was released for the Wii-U back in 2016. Since its release Paper Mario: Color Splash has been an RPG title that many people has overlooked within the past six years or so due to it being on the Wii-U console. The Wii-U console was considered to be a commercial failure following its release in 2012 resulting in the lack of exposure games like Paper Mario: Color Splash. Despite, its low sales Paper Mario: Color Splash was actually a pretty fun and creative game even though it was not as good as some other entries within its series. In terms of gameplay one of the most creative features about Paper Mario: Color Splash was the card-based battle system along more emphasis on puzzle solving. Also, the storyline involving Paper Mario: Color Splash was not bad but it was not as compelling as Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door title from 2004 which appeared on GameCube. The plot for Paper Mario: Color Splash has the same formula that you see in many other Mario titles where Princess Peach is the damsel in distress and Bowser is the main antagonist. The Thousand Year Door game focused on the main villain Sir Grodus and his evil organization the X-Nauts trying to rule the world using the Crystal Stars. The Paper Mario: Color Splash game was mainly about collecting Big Paint Stars in order to restore Prism Island to prevent it from becoming colorless. Also, Bowser wanting to paint the world black is kinda lame and Color Splash was not nearly as big of an attraction as The Origami King title from 2020. While a Switch port of Paper Mario: Color Splash might not have been much of an attraction during the Wii-U era; having it on Nintendo’s next generation console could definitely help the game get more mainstream exposure. Paper Mario: Color Splash might not be the best installment within its series but its one that is worth checking out if your a Nintendo fan and a hardcore RPG gamer.
