It seems like 2023 has been a great year for video game releases especially with the success of games such as Diablo IV, Street Fighter 6, Final Fantasy XVI along many other titles. It seemed like Konami had planed on releasing remastered versions of Suikoden 1 & 2 this year for PS4, Xbox, Steam and Nintendo Switch; but now those plans have apparently been delayed. The team working on the remastered versions of Suikoden 1 & 2 have stated that they planned on spending more time on its development to provide players with the best possible gameplay experience. The decision to delay the release of the remastered versions of Suikoden 1 & 2 could be a good thing because it could standout more in 2024 opposed to this year. The Suikoden series has been dead for over fifteen years now and the series had arguably reached its peak in popularity during the mid to late 90’s. The last main entry in the series Suidoken V from 2006 is considered to be underrated by hardcore RPG games. However, Suikoden V along with the rest of the series was not a massive commercial success and was not profitable to Konami due to low sales. But since the RPG genre is more popular today than it was during the 90’s and the 2000’s its quite possible that the remastered versions of Suikoden 1 & 2 can end up being bigger attractions in America nowadays. Hopeful, Konami will provide an update the near future on the official release date for HD remastered versions of Suikoden 1 & 2.
