In the past two decades many Nintendo fans have been hoping for another major F-Zero game. The last major F-Zero installment came out on GameCube back in 2003 and it was arguably the most successful installment within its series. F-Zero GX for GameCube managed to reach over 1.5 million copies in sales worldwide which speaks volumes about the popularity of the franchise. The F-Zero series has been around since ’91 and video game series has not even reached six million in sales overall. While the older F-Zero games are addictive they were not nearly as popular as some of Nintendo’s most popular franchises such as: Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong or Splatoon. Recently, a former artist who worked for Nintendo named Takaya Imamura recently revealed that he does not believe that Nintendo is ever going to. ring back F-Zero due to the popularity of Mario Kart series which is a very good point. Despite, Mario Kart games being more child friendly they more iconic characters like Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Bowser, Wario and many others. When you think about F-Zero the only person casuals can probably name instantly is Captain Falcon because he was the main protagonist. While the futuristic style of F-Zero games was something that catered more to teenagers they failed to bring in the type of revenue that Nintendo wanted. Hypothetically, if Nintendo released a brand new F-Zero game during this decade it would probably reach over one or two million in sales due to nostalgia. At this point Nintendo would probably be better off adding Captain Falcon to the next Mario Kart game opposed to making a brand new F-Zero game.
