Everyone knows that the legendary Super Mario RPG title from ’96 is finally getting a modern day high-definition remake which is set to appear on the Nintendo Switch in November 2023. Super Mario RPG was first released for Super Nintendo over 26 years ago and is seen as one of the most popular entries within the Mario RPG spin-off series. Super Mario RPG had managed to reach over 2.1 million copies in sales on the SNES and was never ported to any other game system since its release until now. While hardcore fans of the Mario series are excited about the Super Mario RPG remake we just learned recently that the original director for the game Chihiro Fujioka will not be apart of the development process. Even though Chihiro Fujioka was one of the original directors of Super Mario RPG alongside Yoshihiko Maekawa the Mario series is owned by Nintendo. This situation regarding Chihiro Fujioka feels somewhat similar to that of the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake where its original director Hideo Kojima is being excluded from the development process. However, despite his exclusion from the development of the Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars remake Chihiro Fujioka has voiced his happiness on Twitter about the game being remastered. The Super Mario RPG remake can be pre-ordered on My Nintendo Store online and is expected to be released around October 17th worldwide with price being $59.99 in America.
