Its hard to believe that Mega Man X: Command Mission was released for the PlayStation 2 and GameCube almost 20 years ago. The Command Mission game was one of the several spin-off Mega Man games that appeared during 2000’s decade when the series was starting to go down hill in terms of popularity. In fact, Mega Man X: Command Mission was arguably one of the best 3D Mega Man games that Capcom had produced during the 2000’s decade in general. Unfortunately, Mega Man X: Command Mission was overshadowed by countless action-adventure, first-person shooter and fighting games that came out during the 2000’s for the PlayStation 2. Not only was Mega Man X: Command Mission a better 3D entry than the two Mega Man Legends games from ’97 & ’00 but some believe that its highly underrated. While the Mega Man X series began to take a nosedive in popularity during the 2000’s more hardcore fans of the series began to turn more towards the Mega Man Zero series that started on the Game Boy Advance back in 2002.

The Mega Man Zero series was obviously more popular than Mega Man X: Command Mission during the 2000’s since GBA games was more for children versus the PS2 which catered to teenagers and adults. Mega Man X: Command Mission is remake worthy in the eyes of many people but the problem is that the director for the game is no longer with Capcom. Yoshinori Takenaka has not directed a major Mega Man game in almost 20 years with Command Mission being the last game within the series that he worked on. Also, we all know that the producer for Mega Man 11 Kazuhiro Tsuchiya recently resigned from Capcom not too long ago. At this point it looks like we might not even get a Mega Man 12 anytime in the near future. It should also be noted that the Mega Man franchise is not nearly as big or profitable as the likes of Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Monster Hunter or the Devil May Cry series. Even though, the person who directed Mega Man X: Command Mission is no longer with Capcom the company still owns the license to game. But a remake of Mega Man X: Command Mission seems unlikely especially since casuals are not too familiar with it.
