Ever since its release in theaters world back in April 2023 The Super Mario Bros Movie has managed to become one of the most successful video game films of all-time. In terms of box office revenue The Super Mario Bros Movie has managed to surpass over $1 billion and has become one of the greatest video game movies of the 2020’s decade so far. The CGI visuals along with the comedic humor, voice acting and video game references made the Super Mario Bros Movie very memorable. In fact, some would argue that the Super Mario Bros. Movie was better than the Sonic The Hedgehog film from 2022 especially since it had more box office success in comparison. There is question whatsoever that The Super Mario Bros Movie is worthy of a direct sequel sometime in the future. However, it seems like Illumination, Universal Pictures and Nintendo might possibly give us a direct sequel sooner than we expect. One of the rumors swirling around on the internet is that The Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel could come sooner than expected which was something confirmed by Chris Pratt who voiced Mario in the 2023 film. We have no idea whether or not the sequel to recent Super Mario Bros. Movie is currently in development be Chris Pratt’s statement about another movie is “coming soon” is confirmation that a sequel is pretty much guaranteed unless things fall through between Universal Pictures and Nintendo.
