Etrian Odyssey Collection was released for the Nintendo Switch back on June 1st. Since its release many people have questioned the price that it has been listed for which is $79.99. While its no secret that the RPG genre of gaming is very popular right now the Etrain Odyssey series is something that appeals more to a niche audience of gamers opposed to casuals. The Etrain Odyssey trilogy was initially released between 2007-2010 for the Nintendo DS and was something that stood out back then due to its visual presentation and soundtrack. It should be noted that Yuzo Koshiro worked on the music for the Etrain Odyssey trilogy which is something that is a big deal since he is considered to be one of the greatest video game composers of all-time. While dungeon-crawler RPG’s are always fun the genre is considered to be obsolete since more preference is given to action role-playing games in this day and age. Even though, the Etrain Odyssey trilogy is highly underrated many people seem unlikely to pay $79.99 for a dungeon crawler RPG when they could buy a game like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for $69.99 which is ten dollars less. Some would argue that $49.99 would be a fair price for the Etrain Odyssey trilogy considering how old the games are along with the fact that most casuals have no idea that the series even exists.
