Everyone is aware of the ongoing war that is taking place between Russia and Ukraine. The Russian invasion of Ukraine started last year in 2022 and since then it has been condemned internationally by world leaders in general. The actions of Vladimir Putin along with Russia has caused a ripple effect around the world and has lead to many countries severing their ties with the nation altogether. It seems like Nintendo has joined the long list of corporations that have decided to no longer do business with Russia also. We had just learned the other day that Nintendo has recently stopped selling games on Russia through its online eShop which is normally accessible internationally. It should be noted that Nintendo had decided to follow in the footsteps of one of their main competitors Sony who ended suspending software and hardware shipments to Russia due to the outrage concerning the Russian invasion of the Ukraine. Nintendo no longer making games available to Ukrainians is something that seems logical since most citizens are more concerned about survival opposed to video games. But there are many people who wonder how Nintendo’s decision to severe ties with Ukraine is going to affect their business long run. There are various other countries such as: America, United Kingdom, Canada and Japan where the Switch console is still very popular. We have no idea whether Nintendo’s discontinuation of services in Russia a temporary or permanent but either way it looks like its a decision that going to stand for long time regardless.
