There many people who are aware of the fact that the Sonic Prime animated television series appeared on Netflix back in December 2022. Ever since the debut of Sonic Prime on Netflix the animated series has received a mainly positive reception from many critics for various different reasons. So far Sonic Prime only has one season and it feels like a more series version of the light-hearted Sonic Boom animated series from 2014. Sonic Prime is more plot driven than Sonic Boom and has a darker tone and atmosphere in comparison which is something that made the show itself more appealing. Sonic Boom focused more on clever inside jokes and video game references that only hardcore Sega fans and gamers would understand. Sonic Prime focuses on the blue hedgehog venturing through various alternate universes known as the “Shatterverse”and trying to stop Eggman from destroying his friends and finding out what went wrong after he destroyed the Paradox Prism. Throughout, Sonic Prime various counterparts of popular characters within the series including Tails, Knuckles, Rouge the Bat, Amy Rose and Eggman appear which was something that was both cool and interesting to see. Sonic Prime also had Shadow the Hedgehog as well even though he could have had more screen time than he did. While Sonic Prime has received many good reviews from critics the series has yet to be renewed for a second season. At this point it almost feels like Sonic Prime is to Sonic Boom what The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog was to Sonic SatAM back in the 90’s in terms of tone and presentation. Hopefully, Sonic Prime eventually gets renewed for another season later down the line but we will just have to wait and see what happens.
