As the year comes to a close we can conclude that 2022 was a crazy year as it relates to news regarding gaming, entertainment and television. As it relates to the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise in general 2022 has undeniably a great year for Sega; due to the success of the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie along with the release of Sonic Frontiers which has received nothing but great reviews from critics. Along all of the success and momentum that the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise had this year we are finally going to get a brand new animated Sonic series which is suppose to appear on Netflix on December 15th. Sonic Prime looks similar to the Sonic Boom animated series from ’14-’17 but less comedic and with a more serious tone. The plot for this animated series involves Sonic and his friends fighting to fix the Shatterverse after Paradox Crystal is accidentally destroyed. The Paradox Crystal is shattered during the battle between Sonic and Eggman and sees the blue hedgehog exploring new worlds and making new allies. Sonic Prime also sees the return of familiar faces such as Tails Prower, Amy Rose, Knuckles the Echidna and Rouge the Bat. Sonic Prime has been confirmed for only one season thus far and will be produced by WildBrain and Man of Action Entertainment. Its a shame that Sonic Prime not going to be on cable television but since everyone is using streaming apps and YouTube today its really surprising.
