As many people know both Mortal Kombat 9 along with Street Fighter V were both popular fighting titles that were released for a variety of different game consoles within the 10’s decade. In terms of which fighting title was more popular during this decade really depends on who you ask. The Street Fighter along with the Mortal Kombat series have both been in competition witheach other since the early 90’s and each one has their own set of fans. While both Mortal Kombat 9 and Street Fighter V utilized the Unreal Engine and had breath-taking 2D Fighting gameplay its really hard to choose one over the other.

In terms of popularity some might give the edge to Mortal Kombat 9 especially because the storyline for the game basically revisited the events from the first three titles that came out in the early 90’s. Also, NetherRealm Studios had utilized cinematic storytelling for the story of Mortal Kombat 9 way before Capcom had done the same with Street Fighter V back in 2016. As good a Street Fighter V was it was not quite as popular as Super Street Fighter IV which was released for the PlayStation 3 along with the Xbox 360 back in 2010.

Also, Mortal Kombat 9 had more of a cult following following its release than Street Fighter V did and was considered to be a better game than its sequel Mortal Kombat X which came out in 2015. Also, Street Fighter V had popular characters such as Sakura, Guile, Akuma and others as DLC opposed to them being unlockable characters in the game. Mortal Kombat 9 had almost every character you could think of from the first three Mortal Kombat games were available without DLC making a more desirable game to purchase following its initial release.
