When it comes to some of the most popular role playing video games of 2018 one of the top titles that instantly comes to to mind is Octopath Traveler. The graphics for this game are pretty unique especially since it somewhat resembles that of the SNES but in high definition thanks to the Unreal Engine 4. Octopath Traveler was co-developed by Square Enix and Acquire and since its release back in July 2018 the game has become one of the most popular RPG for the Nintendo Switch. Since its release Octopath Traveler has managed to sell over one million copies worldwide within a few months.

Seeing how successful Octopath Traveler has been on the Nintendo Switch there are some who question whether or not the game could have been successful on the PlayStation 4. On one hand having Octopath Traveler on the PS4 would be awesome in theory. But at the same time it could easily be overshadowed by many RPG titles on the PS4 along with upcoming games within that genre such as Final Fantasy VII: Remake, Resident Evil 2: Remake and others coming up in 2019. Having Octopath Traveler as Nintendo Switch exclusive is probably be since its one of the many things that contributes to the overall appeal of the game itself.
