When it comes to big games that the world is looking for to seeing a direct sequel to one of the few games that comes to mind is Mario Kart 8. Since its initial release for the Wii-U back in May 2014 the game has managed to sell over 8.4 million units worldwide becoming one of the best selling titles for that console. Also, the Nintendo Switch port of Mario Kart 8 had managed to sell even more than the Wii-U version of the game. Seeing how popular both versions of Mario Kart 8 within the past couple of years there is no doubt that Nintendo will be giving us a Mario Kart 9 sometimes the future.

However, there has been no announcements as of late on a direct sequel for Mario Kart 8. It’s quite possible that Mario Kart 9 is being developed right now and will not be revealed until sometime next year. Speaking of which it would be cool if Mario Kart 9 appeared at E3 2019 next year but as of right now that seems to be unlikely to happen.
